The black sheep in a sea of sheeple

Mask-free and celebrating??

The CDC now says you can be mask-free if vaccinated! Woo Hoo! I was giddy with excitement as I headed towards the superstore to experience the long-awaited normalcy of seeing people's faces once again. Would I be joined by others who also wanted to enjoy maskless freedoms of seeing a smile and to simply breath in the air? Or would I be a black sheep in a sea sheeple still paralyzed with fear over the big bad COVID-19?

Am I vaccinated? I have been asked by friends, family, acquaintances, and oddly enough by strangers. The Vaxx subject seems to be on everyone’s conversation radar. Most conversations consist of the person virtue signaling their current fully vaccination status as some type of badge of honor. Others, give a blow-by-blow explanation of the vaccine experience. This conversation always leads to desire for them to know your vaccination status. My stock answer now is that I identify as vaccinated. So much for HIPPA. Honestly, I like to keep my Vaxx status as a mystery to aggravate the nosey. Especially, now that only vaccinated can be maskless.

Back to my adventure at the supermarket on the first-day mask restrictions were lifted. I exited my car and headed through the parking lot and noticed most had their masks on. Not a good sign. I headed into the store and noticed all the warning signs about requiring masks were no longer in place. A good sign, that my local superstore had received the memo. The celebration of seeing human expression was finally here. Or so I hoped.

Strangely enough inside the store, a masked greeter was holding a box of masks. I am assuming it was in case an unvaccinated person forgot to wear one. Nevertheless, it seemed odd and I smiled maskless at her and went for a freshly sanitized cart according to the sign. I was looking forward to see faces and not a herd of masked fearful shoppers afraid of the Virus.

I headed towards produce and encountered some masked employees and more masked customers. I groped some avocados to check for ripeness and to agitate the paranoid. I proceeded to get some other items purposely ignoring social distancing and the COVID bubble that has surrounded people for over a year. Oh what a rebel I am!! Laugh if you must, but I was getting some stern stink eye from my fellow shoppers. Perhaps the vaccinated people were hiding in the meat section? I headed that way.

Again, I was the only maskless person around. Do you think suburbia town USA where I reside all decided to decline the vaccination? Or do you think that fear propaganda being shoved in our faces 24/7 still has people paralyzed with fear? or do you think they are not removing the mask because everyone else is keeping their masks on? I hoped that in the dairy section I would find some other maskless people and we could exchange a smile.

I explored the entire store and did not find one maskless adults. The CDC removed the mask guideline, and the store lifted the requirement. You would think people would enjoy breathing air again and remove the fear inducing masks. The Sheeple mentality was alive and well at the supermarket in Suburbia USA. People are still living in fear of the COVID virus that 99.8 % of the people survive and many successful treatment options and vaccines have been developed to combat it.

Yes, I was the rebel black sheep who dared to follow the new CDC guidelines. I shopped in a sea of masked sheeple paralyzed with fear or perhaps so brow beaten by the big tech social media outlets and 24/7 news of only terrible COVID stories that perhaps they still wore it to appease the herd.

What has happened in America and to Americans psyche? The pandemic has changed people and quite frankly it is scary. As for me, I am going to remain a rebel black sheep and hope and pray that some more sheeple will break free and join the dark side and walk maskless and smile at the masked and ignore their scorn. The dark side cherishes the freedom that were lost when masks were mandated and lockdowns instituted. I do not subscribe to the new normal.

America is a beacon of freedom for the world. Take off your mask folks and live your life with a true American spirit. Let’s show the world our faces once again and believe that this COVID virus unleashed onto this world will be beaten into submission.
